Elegy for an Enemy
(For G. H.)

Say, does that stupid earth
Where they have laid her,
Bind still her sullen mirth,
Mirth which betrayed her?
Do the lush grasses hold,
Greenly and glad,
That brittle-perfect gold
She alone had?

Smugly the common crew,
Over their knitting,
Mourn her -- as butchers do
Sheep-throats they're slitting!
She was my enemy,
One of the best of them.
Would she come back to me,
God damn the rest of them!

Damn them, the flabby, fat,
Sleek little darlings!
We gave them tit for tat,
Snarlings for snarlings!
Squashy pomposities,
Shocked at our violence,
Let not one tactful hiss
Break her new silence!

Maids of antiquity,
Look well upon her;
Ice was her chastity,
Spotless her honor.
Neighbors, with breasts of snow,
Dames of much virtue,
How she could flame and glow!
Lord, how she hurt you!

She was a woman, and
Tender -- at times!
(Delicate was her hand)
One of her crimes!
Hair that strayed elfinly,
Lips red as haws,
You, with the ready lie,
Was that the cause?

Rest you, my enemy,
Slain without fault,
Life smacks but tastelessly
Lacking your salt!
Stuck in a bog whence naught
May catapult me,
Come from the grave, long-sought,
Come and insult me!

WE knew that sugared stuff
Poisoned the other;
Rough as the wind is rough,
Sister and brother!
Breathing the ether clear
Others forlorn have found --
Oh, for that peace austere
She and her scorn have found!

Stephen Vincent Benet

My name. yey!

You entered: ________________

There are 19 letters in your name.
Those 19 letters total to 90
There are 7 vowels and 12 consonants in your name.

What your first name means:
Irish	Female	Variant of Bridget: Derived from the Irish name Brighid, meaning 'the high one' or 'strength.' Brighid was a mythological Celtic goddess of fire and poetry. This name has been used regularly in the British Isles since the 17th century.'Strength.
French	Female	A French form of the Irish Bridget, meaning the high one, or strength. Famous bearer: 20th century actress Brigitte Bardot.
Celtic	Female	Strong.

Your number is: 9

The characteristics of #9 are: Humanitarian, giving nature, selflessness, obligations, creative expression.

The expression or destiny for #9:
The expression that you exhibit is represented bythe number 9. Your talents center in humanistic interests and approaches. You like to help others as you were intended to be the 'big brother or big sister' type. You operate best when you follow your feelings and sense of compassion, and allow yourself to be sensitive to the needs of others. You work well with people, and have the potential to inspire. This suggests that you could successfully teach or counsel. Creative ability, imagination and artistic talent (often latent) of the highest order are present in this expression. It's possible that you're not using or developing all of these capabilities at this time. Some of your talents may have been used at an earlier time in your life, and some may still be latent. Be aware of your capabilities, so that you can make use of them at appropriate times.

If you are able to achieve the potential of your natural expression in this life, you are capable of much human understanding and have a lot to give to others. Your personal ambitions are likely to be maintained in a very positive perspective, never losing sight of an interest in people, and a sympathetic, tolerant, broad-minded and compassionate point of view. You are quite idealistic, and disappointed at the lack of perfection in the world. You have a strong awareness of your own feeling as well as those of others. Friendships, affection, and love are extremely important.

Undeveloped or ignored, the negative side of the 9 expression can be very selfish and self-centered. If you do not actively involve yourself with work that benefits others, you may tend to express just the opposite characteristics. It is your role to be very involved with other people and their needs, but it may be difficult for you achieve this role. Aloofness, lack of involvement, and a lack of sensitivity mark the low road of this expression.

Your Soul Urge number is: 6

A Soul Urge number of 6 means:
With a number 6 Soul Urge, you would like to be appreciated for your ability to handle responsibility. Your home and family are likely to be a strong focus for you, perhaps the strongest focus of your life. Friendship, love, and affection are high on your list of priorities for a happy life. You have a lot of diplomatic tendencies in your makeup, as you a able to rectify and balance situations with an innate skill. You like working with people rather than by yourself. It is extremely important for you to have harmony in your environment at all times.

The positive side of the 6 Soul Urge produces a huge capacity for responsibility; you are always there and ready to assume more than your share of the load. If you possess positive 6 Soul Urges and express them, you are known for your generosity, understanding and deep sympathetic attitude. Strong 6 energy is very giving of love, affection, and emotional support. You may have the inclination to teach or serve your community in other idealistic ways. You have natural abilities to help people. You are also likely to have artistic and creative leanings.

If you have an over-supply of 6 energy in your makeup, you may express some of the negative traits common to this number. With such a strong sympathetic attitude, it is easy to become too emotional. Sometimes the desires to render help can be over done, and it can become interfering and an attitude that is too protective, rather than helpful. The person with too much 6 energy often finds that people tend to take advantage of this very giving spirit. You may tend to repress your own needs so that you can cater to the demands from others. At times, there may be a tendency in this, for becoming over-loaded with such demands, and as a result become resentful.

Your Inner Dream number is: 3

An Inner Dream number of 3 means:
You dream of artistic expression; writing, painting, music. You would seek to more freely express your inner feeling and obtain more enjoyment from life. You also dream of being more popular, likable, and appreciated.

"Robert Neville looked out over the new people of the earth. He knew he did not belong to them; he knew that, like the vampires, he was anathema and black terror to be destroyed. And, abruptly, the concept came, amusing him even in his pain.
A coughing chuckle filled his throat. He turned and leaned against the wall while he swallowed the pills. Full circle, he thought while the final lethargy crept into his limbs. Full circle. A new terror born in death, a new superstition entering the unassailable fortress of forever.

I am legend."

- I Am Legend by Richard Matheson

"'Have you read it anywhere before?'
'No, certainly not.'
'Really, you haven't read it anywhere? Then, Monsieur,' he says, his face falling, 'that means it isn't true. If it were true, somebody would have thought of it already.'"

Nausea by Jean-Paul Sartre

Then you reached out and curled your fingers around mine, so tight. I knew you recognized me. That was the first time I knew I had a heart inside my body. - Wasteland, by Francesca Lia Block

"You see: reason, gentlemen, is a fine thing, that is unquestionable, but reason is only reason and satisfies only man's reasoning capacity, while wanting is a manifestation of the whole of life- that is, the whole of human life, including reason and various little itches. And though our life in this manifestation often turns out to be a bit of trash, still it is life and not just the extraction of a square root. I, for example, quite naturally want to live so as to satisfy my whole capacity for living, and not so as to satisfy just my reasoning capacity alone, which is some twentieth part of my whole capacity for living. What does reason know? Reason knows only what it has managed to learn (some things, perhaps, it will never learn; this is no consolation, but why not say it anyway?), while human nature acts as an entire whole, with everything that is in it, consciously and unconsciously, and though it lies, still it lives. I suspect, gentlemen, that you are looking at me with pity; you repeat to me that an enlightened and developed man, such, in short, as the future man will be, simply cannot knowingly want anything unprofitable for himself, that this is mathematics. I agree completely, it is indeed mathematics. But I repeat to you for the hundredth time, there is only one case, one only, when man may purposely, consciously wish for himself even the harmful, the stupid, even what is stupidest of all: namely, so as to have the right to wish for himself even what is stupidest of all and not be bound by an obligation to wish for himself only what is intelligent. For this stupidest of all, this caprice of ours, gentlemen, may in fact be the most profitable of anything on earth for our sort, especially in certain cases. And in particular it may be more profitable than all other profits even in the case when it is obviously harmful and contradicts the most sensible conclusions of our reason concerning profits- because in any event it preserves for us the chiefest and dearest thing, that is, our personality and our individuality. Now, some insist that this is indeed the dearest of all things for man."

Fyodor Dostoevsky - Notes from Underground

It's so hard to talk when you want to kill yourself. That's above and beyond everything else, and it's not a mental complaint--it's a physical thing, like it's physically hard to open your mouth and make the words come out. They don't come out smooth and in conjunction with your brain the way normal people's words do; they come out in chunks as if from a crushed-ice dispenser; you stumble on them as they gather behind your lower lip. So you just keep quiet.

from It's Kind of A Funny Story by Ned Vizzini

If we could do without wars, all the better. I would know a better use for the twelve billions the armed peace costs Europe every year; there are other means to honour physiology than military hospitals...So far, so good, even very good: after the old god has been assassinated, I am ready to rule the world.

- Friedrich Nietzsche, late 1888 to early 1889. One of the final entries into the Nachlass before his collapse. Collected in The Antichrist + Fragments from a Shattering Mind

If you saw her in these moments, you might think she was collecting her thoughts in order to go forward. But I see it another way: Her mind is being overwhelmed by two processes that must simultaneously proceed at full steam. One is to deal with and live in the present world. The other is to re-experience and mourn something that happened long ago. It is as though her lightness pulls her toward heaven, but the extra gravity around her keeps her earthbound.

Or is it that I think too much?

The Pleasure Of My Company By: Steve Martin

He does not yet understand when and how people are hurt. He doesn't understand the subtleties of slights and pains, that it is not the big events that hurt the most but rather the smallest questionable shift in tone at the end of a spoken word that can plow most deeply into the heart. It seems to him that nothing in the world of relationships proves to be generally true, that nothing follows a logical sequence, and that his search for cohesion leaves him empty of answers.

Shop Girl by: Steve Martin

______________

Oh, Today one of my teachers made the best announcement ever... He's going to be able to take people with him this summer when he goes to Italy... *me jumps all over that* I subtly dropped the subject with mom, and she seems more excited about it then I do...

And why the hell am I always thirsty? I swear I drink 3 to 4 litres a day... and stilllll want something to drink.
"She was beautiful, her beauty fell and terrible to look upon. Her face was cold as the vast, frozen wastelands to the south, where a man perishes in an instant, his breath turning to ice in his lungs. Her eyes were the flames of a funeral pyre. Her nails were talons, her hair long and ragged hair of the corpse. Her armor was black fire. At her side, she wore a sword perpetually stained with blood, a sword used to sever the souls from their bodies"
-Author Unknown

"She had an animal sense that vulnerability is dangerous."
-"Suicide Blonde" Darcey Steinke

"Sometimes we love with nothing more than hope. Sometimes we cry with everything except tears. In the end that's all there is: love and its duty, sorrow and its truth. In the end that's all we have - to hold on tight until the dawn."
-Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts

"Lovers find their way by such insights and confidences: they're the stars we use to navigate the oceans of desire. And the brightest of those stars are the heartbreaks and sorrows. The most precious gift you can bring to your lover is your suffering. So I took each sadness she confessed to me and pinned it to the sky."
-Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts

“I am an excitable person who only understands life lyrically, musically, in whom feelings are much stronger than reason. I am so thirsty for the marvelous that only the marvelous has power over me. Anything I can not transform into something marvelous, I let go. Reality doesn't impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls.”
-Anais Nin

"If I lose the light of the sun, I will write by candlelight, moonlight, no light. If I lose paper and ink, I will write in blood on forgotten walls. I will write always.I will capture nights all over the world and bring them to you.....
Night is the harvester of memories. Night is the gatherer of thoughts that hide in sunlight. Night brings out the inhabitants from the deep cracks that shun the idiotic noise of the masses. Night empowers and makes one bold. True love and the telling of secrets only happens at night. Sunlight is a passionless interrogator. Candlelight brings out the beauty of the human form."
-Henry Rollins, Black Coffee Blues

If you had to identify, in one word, the reason why the human race has not achieved and will never achieve its full potential, that one word would be "meetings."

   3. You should never say anything to a woman that even remotely suggests that you think she's pregnant unless you can see an actual baby emerging from her at that moment.

  11. There comes a time when you should stop expecting other people to make a big deal about your birthday. That time is age eleven.

  12. The one thing that unites all human beings, regardless of age, gender, religion, economic status or ethnic background, is that, deep down inside, we ALL believe that we are above average drivers.

  13. A person, who is nice to you, but rude to a waiter, is not a nice person. (This is very important. Pay attention. It never fails.)

  14. Your friends love you anyway.

  15. Never be afraid to try something new. Remember that a lone amateur built the Ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic.

    16. Call to Adventure. A herald or sign disturbs the equilibrium of the hero's life. He must respond, often because there is a triggering event or set of circumstances that allows no other option. Therefore, he at least begins the mindset if not actually the journey of adventure. This is the departure, or separation. Later in the journey he will experience the return phase of the journey.

2. Sometimes there is a refusal to the call; the hero is not ready r needs further provocation to heed the call to adventure.

3. Helper/Amulet. After finally accepting the call, the hero may encounter a figure or circumstance that bestows upon him a device that is an aid to his adventure. This is often known as the boon.

4. Crossing of the Threshold. In this, the hero departs from the comfortable, known surroundings for the unknown. Sometimes the threshold is literal; a barrier. Often it s merely a change of context.

5. In the Belly of the Whale. Often the threshold crossing leads to a dark world or difficult world - the belly of the whale - which the hero must negotiate in order to emerge and begin the initiation a realm of tests.

6. The road of Trials. This begins the real set of tests for the hero, a series of bouts, trials, or adventures that test him in various ways.

7. The hero may meet with the Goddess. This can take the form of an ultimate prize or a literal feminine partner. the other side of the goddess is as temptress, someone who can lure the hero away from the quest.

8. Symbolic death. The hero may experience a symbolic death, in which he loses his original self preparatory to his new persona emerging. This can take a literal and sometimes terrifying form in a story.

9. Atonement/Recognition by Father. the father figure represents a higher power, such as God, or Logos, or similar theme. In this stage, the hero must reconcile with this figure.

10. Apotheosis. Through reconciliation and trial, the hero experiences an apotheosis, or elevation toa new, higher status.

11. The Ultimate Boon. Now the hero is in possession of a great boon, which can be enlightenment, a physical prowess, a great gift, or substance that is needed or can be dispensed to others.

12. The Return. Once the hero has reached this stage, he may experience a reluctance (or be held back by some forces) to return to the real world.

13. Refusal of Return.

14. Rescue and Magic Flight; other s may have intervene to rescue the hero from his predicament; once this has been accomplished, he makes a perilous journey back with is boon.

15. A symbolic rebirth may occur here, rather than earlier in the story, with the hero crossing another threshold that has an opposite pairing with the first threshold he crossed at the beginning of the journey.

16. Master of Two Worlds. The threshold crossed, the hero is now master of two worlds, that is, an integrated psyche, which may be demonstrated by a literal ability to move between the two worlds in the myth at will.
17. Freeedom to Live, after completion of the journey, the hero is free and able to dispense his boon to others.

Quiz time... again.

I need stuff in here that's public... hmm...
*sigh* yeah... more HP stuff... It really doesn't rule my life that much... just it's on the more entertaining end of the random crap I find on the internet. That and I heart the characters. Even Harry, kind of, when I was all said and done for with the last book. At least Rowling brought out all the carefree-ness in the last book as an issue that I was having issues with... ie. not asking questions, being really judgemental...especially toward snape and slytherins in general... aghh... another rant. ^__^

As Snape, you may ultimately like to appear you are doing the greater good, but you are hostile and unfriendly towards others. You are intelligent, resourceful and authorative. You also have a lucrative contract with l'Oriel.

Which Hogwarts house will you be sorted into?

Your results:
You are Poison Ivy

Poison Ivy

I'm still here, Don't you worry...

I have applied for two stories and Art over at
Luciusfqf. I had to create an Insane Journal in order to join... I figured I'd get my feet wet in some fan fiction and see if I'm a writer or not. Looks like I'll be busy busy...

I also need to work on my FanArt100. Figured Drawing class is helping me out a lot... hopefully I will soon start on it...

1) For Fiction -
Lucius disobeys the Dark Lord's orders and does the only thing he can to save his family: he seeks asylum with The Order of The Phoenix.

2) For Art -
Lucius ponders how one decision, made in the past, could have prevented his current circumstances. Canon through 1-7.

3)For Fiction -
Lucius starts school - The little prince surveys his kingdom and begins selecting minions.

^__^

Woot! I turn 21 on Monday! 2 more day! too bad I don't have anything planned...

I got a Labret piercing. I'm still a bit shocked that I got it.... I don't dislike it... I'm just shocked I actually did it. Go me Go!! It's interesting eating now. Hopefully I'll get used to it soon. It was one of those random things that happened between roomies. I'm sure if we would have thought about it, we wouldn't have done it. It was wonderful bonding time, haha. Mom should find it exciting, at least it isn't a tattoo.

I also applied for some jobs. We'll see how that goes.

I went and saw 3:10 To Yuma. I enjoyed it ... it was a wonderful Character driven story, mostly about two guys finding friendship in a situation where they shouldn't have a friendly relationship at all. The ending I'm sad about, but I'm not quite sure how I would have liked it to of ended anyhow. The best part were the previews, well... ONE preview... the rest sucked. God, does there really need to be another Saw? The movie I can't wait to see now, besides Sweeney Todd, is There Will Be Blood. Looks ALL SHADES OF FANTASTIC. That, and there is Daniel Day-Lewis... glad he's taking a break from making shoes. Made my day.

HALLOWEEN IS COMING!!! YEY YEY YEY YEY YEY!!

Almost Perfect? Hah!

Your Score: Pollyanna- INFP

26% Extraversion, 73% Intuition, 26% Thinking, 40% Judging

So, you want to make the world a better place? Too bad it's never gonna happen.

Of all the types, you have to be one of the hardest to find fault in. You have a selfless and caring nature. You're a good listener and someone who wants to avoid conflict. You genuinely desire to do good.

Of course, these all add up to an incredibly overpowered conscience which makes you feel guilty and responsible when anything goes wrong. Of course, it MUST be your fault EVERYTIME.

Though you're constantly on a mission to find the truth, you have no use for hard facts and logic, which is a source of great confusion for those of us with brains. Despite this, in a losing argument, you're not above spouting off inaccurate fact after fact in an effort to protect your precious values.

You're most probably a perfectionist, which in this case, is a bad thing. Any group work is destined to fail because of your incredibly high standards.

Disregard what I said before. You're just easy to find fault in as everyone else!

Luckily, you're generally very hard on yourself, meaning I don't need to waste my precious time insulting you. Instead, just find all your own faults and insult yourself.

*****************

If you want to learn more about your personality type in a slightly less negative way, check out this.

*****************

All was well.

07.22.07

Ah, now what ever shall I do now that I'm done reading Harry Potter? haha. I believe Rowling did her best on the finale. All of my questions were answered, and more. I am happy with how she handled it, though I can see why she thinks a lot of her readers will not like it. The book is not very happy... it is filled with doubt, despair, and failure... but there are numerous examples and meanings on how to live life. It's not just a child's tail anymore. The series escaped the clutches of being forever trapped in child's games, and grew up, making it more adaptable to life.

I still wish for some closure though for some of the side characters... I mean... I liked how it was but, I wanted more, what happens to everyone else?? Draco's hair is receeding... good to know.

Oh, and I was kind of ticked... before I got the book I was having a discussion about whether or not Harry was going to die... I said yes, and before I could explain myself, she was frantic and said 'You want Voldemort to win??' and shook her head and walked off with me still sitting there blinking my eyes like mad. Voldemort winning never seriously came into my mind (unless I was being my Slytherin self, of course)... but Harry dieing would be one of those bitter-sweet endings. Oh, and I love the Martyr...

British authors using quotes from one of the founding fathers of the US? It humors me.... :D

Death is but crossing the world, as friends do the seas; they live in one another still. For they must needs be present, that love and live in that which is omnipresent. In this divine glass, they see face to face; and their converse is free, as well as pure. This is the comfort of friends, that though they may be said to die, yet their friendship and society are, in the best sense, ever present, because immortal.

- William Penn, More Fruits of Solitude

Oh, the torment bred in the race,
        the grinding scream of death
and the stoke that hits the vein,
the hemorrhage none can staunch, the grief,
the curse no man can bear.

But there is a cure in the house,
        and not outside it, no,
not from others but from them,
their bloody strife. We sing to you,
dark gods beneath the earth.

No hear, you blissful powers underground -
    answer the call, send help;
Bless the children, give them triumph now.

- Aeschylus, The Libation Bearers

I made the odd choice of driving 2 hours to go see the midnight showing of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. I still haven't made the the decision of whether that was a wise venture or not, based on the movie... I enjoyed the movie... but I found it lacking... compared to what was in the books. But that is usual. I would have to say that the teen angst went over quite well. The death Eater masks were bad ass, but I still am lacking ideas about how to decorate my own. Ah, poor Lucius... he dropped the prophacy and got punched in the face by Sirius... way to get the Fabio-want-to-be, Sirius... Oh, and I died laughing when Professor McGonagall was having a 'top stair' contest with Umbridge. Speaking of Umbridge... those cat plates of her's were quite special for a sadist.... and I now officially hate the color pink.

I think I still like Goblet of Fire the best... I need to see OOTP again...
